Welcome to Hearts Joined In Prayer; we are so glad you've joined us!
Please tell us a little about yourself--your background, experiences, personal desires, abilities, and gifts.  These are all things that God uses to make you a unique and important part of the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12 - 31) and we'd like to recognize and celebrate these blessings with you!

Hello, Snookie, here.  I’m the founder of this forum.  I hope my past experience as a moderator on another forum will be put to good use here.  I certainly learned a few more people skills when volunteering for that job.

Let’s see now.  I’ve raised two daughters, and love people in general (especially children).  I spent most of my working career in retail or warehouse work.  I’ve done a couple of office jobs, but sitting behind a desk in a corner felt too secluded for me.  Like I said, “I love people in general,” and that includes being in contact with them on a frequent basis.

I’ve dabbled with writing fiction, doing artwork, and I’ve learned a little bit about how to use Adobe Photoshop (CS2 & CS3) and Corel Draw (X3 & X4).  I can also somewhat play the piano and the penny whistle.

By the grace of God, I’ve been in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction since 1996.  I have learned through working with others in this area that even the smallest of contributions we may have to offer can make a huge difference in some else’s life.  All it really takes is making yourself available, and a willingness to listen with a compassionate heart.  I’m not perfect at this, by any means, but I have come a long way.  Guess God’s still working on me.  grin

Due to an injury I had a few years back, and the loss of almost everything I owned, I’ve learned to not be so self-sufficient.  Instead, I’ve learned to rely on God, family, and friends.  It has been quite a humbling experience, but an important lesson none the less.

I’ve been reading The Purpose Driven Life with my boyfriend, and have discovered that there is a lot more to life than a few token efforts, being a good person, and filling up space on this earth.  When browsing another site, I ran across a link for a Christian Prayer site, and found it lacking.  It was then, that I felt led to found Hearts Joined in Prayer.  Could this be one of my ‘purposes’?  Only time will tell, but for now, since I have such a strong desire, I will treat it as such.

I am hopeful about this forum and eagerly look forward to meeting and getting to know each and every new member! smile

Grace and Peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ!

I'm Nick.  I love God and am an active member of my church, Bothell United Methodist Church, where I help out with their computers, play guitar and sing in our choir.  In the summer of 1977 I went to a Billy Graham Crusade in San Diego and rededicated my life to Christ.  I have had my own share of trials and have ventured into the "spiritual wilderness" many times over the course of my life.  I continually thank God for all He has done for me.

I do believe in the power of prayer, thus I joined this forum.  And I also know that God not only answers prayer; he also has a sense of humor!  God has revealed to me that I have the gifts of administration, of exhortation, and of teaching.  In the past I have taught 8-month bible study "Disciple" classes where we cover every book of the bible, reading approximately 60% of the entire bible.  I have also taught Sunday School.  I have been blessed with the ability to read 50 chapters of the bible daily at times, which has greatly buttressed my faith for those times of trial.  Even though I am an introvert, I have felt the power of God when I was asked to witness from the pulpit about my faith journey.

And I have have witnessed the power of answered prayer!

I'm a Systems Analyst with a transportation company here in Seattle, and have two cats, Willie and Winnie.  And I look forward to reading your prayer concerns and fellowshipping to any and all who are here.

Shalom,

Nick :-)

Well, my name is Greg, I live in upstate New York. I am a machinist have been for 25 years at the same shop. My dad retired after 46 years from the same shop. I have a wife , Candy, and a fifteen year old son, Luke. We attend every Sunday to the Victory Highway Church, in Painted Post, N.Y. A fairly good size church 3 morning services. (you can google it).  I'ts different than what were use to, we changed churches about 1 1/2 years ago. For 23 years we were members and served on the board of a Nazerene Church near our home. I read the Bible every morning, when it's quite, before anybody else gets up. As of five years ago I had never read the Bible from beginning to end, without skipping any words, before. Now I 'm almost finished with my third time thru. I think that every time I read it, it means more, things you miss, understanding more clearly. I have way too many favorite verses, but my testimonial verses are ROMANS 8: 38 & 39. I have been a friend of SNOOKIES since we first met on another server. Even though e-mails you can tell if some is genuine. But still I always first of all PRAY!  A couple of weeks ago a restaurant near my work changed it's name to SNOOKY'S. They spelled it wrong, but the y_s, might not be a mistake. Prays and hope that the spirit of GOD be with you.lol GREGMAN

Nickumc, thanks so much for showing your support in this endeavor by joining!  It really means a lot to me, and I'm sure it will mean just as much to others as soon as they get a chance to know you too.  smile

Gregman9, we're so glad to have you here.

The Snooky's sign is bizarre.  Still, they may not have it wrong.  I was originally gonna spell it Snooky when I first started gaming, but that was taken, so I went with Snookie.  That makes your 'sign' even more bizarre to me. grin

Hi, Greg

I'm Kelly Snookie' sister in-law and by the way she stole that name from me. I call my husband snookie and she didn't know it. Anyway so you from NY ? How do you like it there? My husband and I were truck drivers and drove through there a few times and oh how fun it was! It's not to bad for weather but not for commercial trucks. Anyway I just wanted to say Hi and pick on you a little.  God bless you

Stole the name Snookie?!  Meh.  Maybe it was just because my brother and I are too much alike--you know, a bit dorky. wink  Or so my kids have told me over the years. Oh the stories they could tell.  Must be genetics.  grin

Well, one such story, or group of stories I should say, is about how I can't dance, but would go out on the dance floor anyway.  Candice and Allison (my daughters) would pull me to the side and say something like, "Mom, everyone is staring and laughing at you!"

I'd return with, "Well if they're laughing, then it means we're all having fun."

They'd roll their eyes and let out a huge sigh.

When we moved to Texas, we went to visit Chuck (my youngest brother) and his wife.  Allison was looking through video tapes they had on their shelf because she was wanting to watch a movie.  While browsing through their selection, she ran across the video of their wedding and reception.  Chuck let her pop it in and watch.  When they got the to reception part, there was some footage of Chuck dancing with me.  I was doing all my typical dorky moves and having a blast.  I did this really awkward turn and while my back was turned, Chuck sorta did this backward shuffle and disappeared off the screen.  When I had completed my turn, I realized he was gone and started trying to figure out where he went.  Then the camera panned off to focus on the rest of the crowd.  Ally started laughing and said, "See, Mom, you dance like such a dork.  That's why Uncle Chuck disappeared the first chance he got!"

I have to admit that I did look rather silly. surprise

I guess if you live there long enough you can take it!  Also it doesn't  matter to me what your denomination is. but it doesn't hurt to know where people come from. What's important is that we have Jesus first and foremost.  God Bless, Kelly

God's peace to you all, especially Snookie, whom I have been blessed to have in my life for some time now. Through God's endless love, the gift of His Son, and the power of The Holy Spirit, I am able to be with you here. What a joy it is for me to become a part of Hearts Joined in Prayer. I am of the opinion that prayer is a wonderful gift from God. It is an honor to pray with all of you.
